Gold Cock Single Malt Whisky 1992 has been maturing since 1992 and has therefore experienced the move from the Dolany Distillery to the premises of Rudolf Jelinek in Vizovice.
The base of the Single Malt Whisky is Moravian barley malt prepared in the Bruntal malt house, where the production of Gold Cock started in the 1970s. The malt whisky is specially prepared by smoking peat from St. Sebastian Mountain.
The whiskey is stored in sessile oak barrels, the most common in the Czech Republic, which hold between 270 and 300 litres. The barrels were heavily charred when they were first filled. Gold Cock whisky has been aged in barrels traditionally made by Moravian coopers.
This edition is prepared with the help of whiskyclub.cz. Six different single cask strength spirits have been chosen, and the final decision on the strength of this whisky was made in the summer of 2014. It is the same as the line of latitude which runs through Vizovice, where the whisky is stored.
Tasting notes:
The aroma starts with vanilla, then becoming fruity, mainly apple. It has a subtle, woody taste with a stronger taste of nuts and a mild bitterness.
