Chita


The Chita grain distillery was built in Chita Peninsula in 1972. The grain whiskies produced in Chita distillery have a characteristic of mild and smooth aroma, and these whiskies play an important role in supporting Suntory’s whisky production. Equipped with continuous stills, the Chita distillery produces three types of grain whisky; clean (slightly sweet), medium (well-balanced with a cereal aroma) and heavy (full-bodied).

The three types of grain whisky ar matured in various casks. The grain whisky matured in white oak is blended with whiskies matured in Spanish oak and wine casks. Suntory’s Fourth Chief Blender, Shinji Fukuyo is the man behind Chita’s delicate and luminous esprit. His artistry is what defines the signature balance and harmony of all Suntory whiskies.
