Benediktiner
The monastery Ettal was found on the 28th of April by emperor Ludwig IV, the Bavarian. In the 15th and 16th century the monastery had an own brewery in Oberammergau. In 1609 the brewery was installed within the monastery Ettal. Without interruption beer has been brewed here for more than 400 years.
Because of the limited brewing capacities of the monastery Benediktiner Weissbier is aditionally brewed in the Licher Private Brewery today - under monastic supervision, following strictly the original recipe and using only the original Ettaler cellar yeast.
