The base of Carlos I is a wine distillate of the white grape variety Airen, grown in the region around Jerez de la Frontera. The master distiller adds aromatic sweet wines from Muskat d’Alexandria and Pedro Ximénez to the raw brandy, before it goes into the casks of the legendary solera system. There it is stored in the casks made of american oak, which contained Oloroso Sherry before. After more than ten years it is matured to a great Brandy Solera Gran Reserva.
