Svensk Ek has a spicy character giving notes of sandalwood, dried ginger, black pepper, roasted oak barrel and herbs to the whisky. These spicy characteristics are complemented by fruity undertones with hints of vanilla and toffee, similar to the caramelised sugar from oak barrels, previously used to age Bourbon.

The oils that appear when adding water to the whisky bring taste and texture, a phenomenon that sometimes is filtered out for aesthetic reasons. But at Mackmyra whisky should be totally natural, which is why they neither chill filter nor add any artificial colours.

The oak barrels made of swedish oak are from trees planted hundreds of years ago on the island of Visingsö, intended to be used for building ships for the Swedish Royal Navy. Today, this oak gives character to Mackmyra’s modern and innovative whisky.

Non chill filtered, no colouring.
