The German single malt whisky Rothaus Black Forest is released in limited editions every year on the 16th of march. The mash is made in the brewing coppers of the Baden Government’s Brewery Rothaus. The semifinished product is then transferred to Karlsruhe to the distillery Kammer-Kirsch for further processing. Double distilling produces an extraordinary product of highest quality and is equal to the Scottish method of production. The distillate is filled into former Bourbon barrels and into special Highland malt barrels and stored in the temperature-resistant ice cellars of a former brewery which are classified as historical monuments. Rothaus Black Forest Single Malt Whisky is stored there for at least three years until it is matured by age.
The first single malt was brewed and fermented in Rothaus in April 2006. It was distilled in July 2006 and filled into bottles at Kammer-Kirsch in September 2009.
Month and year of distillation and bottling are indicated on every bottle.
