Gold Cock is the oldest whisky brand of Czech. The history of Gold Cock Whisky started in 1969 when malted barley produced by maltings in city of Bruntál was distilled for the very first time in T?šetice Distillery near Olomouc. Here the new make was filled into oak casks and stored for maturation. The first bottles of Gold Cock Whisky were released in 1973.
After years of communism as well as long and difficult process of privatization, both the distillery and the trade mark Gold Cock Whisky were just a step from closure. In 2006 the company Rudolf Jelinek, a traditional producer of plum brandy and other fruit distilled spirits located in Vizovice, acquired the complete stock of Gold Cock single malt whisky, its production technology and trademarks. During that year, all casks were transported from T?šetice to Vizovice on the journey to start a new époque of whisky distillation in Moravia.
Despite all those changes the makers of Gold Cock keep on carrying on what makes this Czech whisky special and traditional – spring’s two-row barley from Moravia, malt from maltings in Bruntál dried in the traditional way, and casks made of the European winter oak, coopered by Moravian coopers.
