The Chancet Rocks were given their name by an intrepid 19th century captain who was trying to get his boat ashore on the coastline, not far from where the Yealands vineyards are planted today. The name attests to the pioneering spirit displayed by the early settlers in the Awatere Valley, and continued today by Pter Yealands.
Peter is leading the wine industry in environmentally sustainable practices in the vineyard and winery. This sensitivity to the environment, allied to the skill in the winery, has resulted in wines that are brimming with flavour.
