From the extraordinary range of Zacapa Rums comes the yearly special blend, Zacapa Reserva Limitada. With the 2015 edition Zacapa Master Blender Lorena Vásquez, expresses her passion and exquisite craftmanship in a carefully selected blend of rums of different ages that reveal a distinctive twist in aromatic and flavor profiles.

Zacapa Reserva Limitada 2015 is created by merging selected reserve rums aged from 6 to 24 years old. These rums are matured in American and French white oak casks which had previously held robust American whiskies, delicate sherry and fine Pedro Ximenez wine and have carefully been re-charred by hand to reveal dalicate flavors.

To enhance the liquid’s rich flavor, Lorena Vásquez developed a finish that draws from the charred casks to imbue the liquid with accentuated notes of refined vanilla. The result is a rum of exceptional smoothness, with an exquisite balance of flavors of coffee and fruit.

Zacapa Rum is regarded as one of the finest in the world. Aged and blended in the 'House Above the Clouds', 2300m above sea level, the cool mountain air slows aging, allowing Zacapa time to rest and develop character. Zacapa uses a unique Sistema Solera process, based on a centuries-old Spanish way of aging sherries, to blend rums of different ages in a sequence of barrels which previously held American whiskies, sweet sherries and fine Pedro Ximenez wines. Refined by craftsmanship and devotion, the whole process is artfully overseen by Master Blender Lorena Vasquez.

The tropical climate and volcanic soil yield high grade sugar cane and, unlike most rums that use molasses, Zacapa is created from the concentrated first press of sugar cane or 'virgin sugar cane honey', which contributes to its award-winning taste.
